Thomas Vincent Savini also was known as Tom Savini is a veteran American actor, stuntman, director, and award-winning special make-up effects creator who has worked for and with the best in the entertainment business.
History[]
Thomas Vicent Savini is known as an actor and award-winning special makeup effects icon. Worked on hit horror movies such as Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Creepshow, Friday the 13th (parts I and IV), Maniac, The Burning, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. Tom will help mastermind the kills and brutality found in Friday the 13th: The Game, along with providing overall horror philosophy.
Thomas has directed Night of the Living Dead, the 1990 remake of Romero's 1968 Night of the Living Dead his other directing work include three episodes of the TV show Tales from the Darkside and one segment in The Theatre Bizarre. As an actor and stuntman, he has appeared in films such as Martin, Dawn of the Dead, Knightriders, From Dusk till Dawn, Planet Terror, Machete, Django Unchained, and Machete Kills.
Thomas "Tom" Vincent Savini was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, his family is of Italian descent. Growing up he was raised in a Catholic household where he had graduated from Central Catholic High School. As a young boy, his inspiration was actor Leonidas Frank Chaney Sr. aka Lon Chaney, and Thomas had attributes his earliest desires to create makeup effects to Chaney and the film Man of a Thousand Faces. with this inspiration he had been Experimenting with whatever medium he could find, the young Tom practiced creating makeup effects on himself, later on in his life he had convinced his friends to let him practice his talent on them. He also discovered another passion, which was the concept of acting. Combining his makeup applications and homemade costumes, he had especially enjoyed causing his friends to be scared. Savini then had attended Point Park University for three years, before enlisting in the United States Army. After his tour in Vietnam, he attended Carnegie-Mellon University, as the first undergraduate to be awarded a full fellowship in the acting and directing program. He appeared in stage productions throughout college and continued on stage long after his tour of duty in Vietnam.
